Figgy's Notes

To borrow a great phrase from the Unruly Jets Fan:

Cricket, cricket

Where the hell is everyone? In any case, baseball is really getting into its groove now. The Mets lost two in a row but beat the Braves today. Perez might be a pitcher after all, 6th victory today.

How about David Wright moving to Cleanup? Delgado, who batted 6th and recovering from offseason surgery, got two hits while being moved down the lineup. I hope he doesn't take the lineup change personally or as anything permanent. Willie Randolph made a great move there. Wright is obviously on fire in the month of May, hitting his eighth homer.

One more victory tomorrow in Atlanta and we will take the series and open up an important lead on those crafty Atlantans. I have NOT checked the stats on this, but I venture to say that the Mets have won the majority of the series they've played this year.

C'mon pitching! I really, really hope Pedro will be ready to go down the stretch. Add him into the mix and Mookie McFly is (w)right - the Mets will win it all!

Let's go Mets!
Tomorrow is Glavine vs. Smoltz! Let's go Mets!

I fucking hate crickets. When I lived on Village Road, huge ones used to inhabit my basement. (Ask Unruly, he saw them during our day-long playstation marathons down there). Whenever they were squashed, they made the biggest crunching sounds. I am pretty sure that Figs and his huge feet used to step on them without any mercy. They freaked me out. One time, after seeing some movie, (I forget which one, maybe Brokeback Mountain, ha ha), me and Jon Monks and made a plan to go down the basement and hunt and kill a bunch of crickets. (I think it was some Schwartzanager pic). Needless to say, we didn't find any.

Anyway, as for the Mets, they rock and I hope they win tonight. Glav has his troubles against the Braves, but I think he overcomes them tonight and the Mets put a beating on Smoltz. D. Wright is coming around big time, and hopefully Delgado gets there. The pundits on the FAN say he is still injured, but I hope that is not the case. Either way, Delgado needs to get out of his funk.

Perez was lights out last night, the guy rocks out with his cock out. He is fucking awesome against the Braves. He is pitching well, I think maybe he just needed a second chance to jumpstart his career.

Go Mets!

This rant has nothing to do with the Mets (who should win the rubber match tonight and hopefully take care of business with the Fishies this weekend. Anyway, did anyone see that Josh Hancock's father is suing the restaurant where his son was drinking before he slammed into the back of a flatbed and met his untimely demise?? I almost fell out of my chair when I read the article. Hmm...I guess it's the bar's fault that he was handed drinks for the 3 1/2 hours he was there. I guess the tow truck driver and the broken down car it was assisting are also negligent for getting in Hancock's way as he was making drunken plans on his cell phone and slamming into the flatbed at about 70 mph despite a last minute attempt to swerve out of the way. I'd like Fakey to weigh in on this being a lawyer and all. But even if the elder Hancock has a case legally, the facts remain. His son, a 29 year-old major league pitcher got hammered, wasn't wearing his seatbelt, and slammed into the back of a truck. As unforunate as it may be, there is, at least in my mind, noboy to blame but the deceased himself.

It seems Van Wilder is thinking of getting in on our suicide pool. Sorry Vansegs, me and Fakey just figured out that you have to wait two years after getting your policy before you can drive into a parked truck. But I like your angle on trying to get more money from the bar when it is over as well.

Actually I heard the bar reported that they cut him off after a period of time and said they offered to call a cab. I am sure they did. Of course the guy is dead so how can you prove they said that stuff.

At any rate, I remember those crickets. The grossest part about them in your basement is that after you killed them you just left them there.

Their bodies were left there as a warning to the other crickets.

As for your question VanSeg, Handcock's father can sue whoever he wants, but whether or not they are legally liable is another question. In this case, I highly doubt the lawsuit will go anywhere and will be disposed of at Summary Judgment.

As for the Mets, tough loss last night. I hate the fucking Braves and their old as dirt manager aptley named "Cox".

Yeah, I think we will handle the rest of MLB, but the Braves will always give us problems.

As for Hancock, let's see:

Drinking for 3.5 hours, cut off at a bar, cab offered and declined, on the cellphone while driving drunk and over 70 mph, and oh yeah they found marijuana in his car too.

Take it from an expert, smoking marijuana after 3.5 hours of drinking WILL FUCK YOU UP.

Hey Von Seggern,

a buddy of mine who had lived in Germany the last 6 years just moved back to Denver. He is engaged now. His fiance (sp) is a tall German chick name Birthe (pronounced Beer-tuh) whose family was in the SS.
We were at this pool hall talking about it, I could barely contain my questions. Where, when, why? I restrained myself though, but we will probably hang out again this weekend and I will dig for some more dirt. I mentioned that I have come across the name Von Seggern numerous times in my readings about WW II Germany.

I think I deserve to know if you Dad's side was taken here by the Allies to work as scientists. Are you guys moles waiting to be reactivated?
