Get Out Your Measuring Stick...Brewers Fans

Here comes the best team in baseball...hot off a six game winning streak. Challenges are good and the Mets have faced a few to mixed results. They let the Braves steal some games early that they will now have to get back later. They went out West and pretty much just cruised for 7 games the way Jose Reyes (#7) cruises around the basepaths.

The weird thing about this series is the team...the Brewers(see link in title)???

The last time they were good team, guys like Molitor, Yount, Ogilvy and Simmons drove the bus. This time around things are a little bit different. Sure they have some pop with Fielder, Hardy, Weeks, Hall and Jenkins but these guys are young (except for Jenkins but he is pretty good still). They are a young team...loaded with young talent just gathering experience the way Jose 3x & Dwright did the past few years. No, this team isn't scary offensively at least like the Brew Crew of the early 80's. This is a club built on the strength of it's arms. Unfortunately for Mets fans we see them all this weekend...while the Braves take on the pitiful Pirates of Pittsburgh, PA. Yeah, this weekend we get to see their 3 (I hope that's a lucky number for us) in Sheets, Capuano & the dreaded Jeff Suppan (oh, if I had a hatelist like Metstradamus, Suppan would be on it).

The Mets have Jorge "Don't Call Me Sammy" Sosa, Mike "If I Don't Walk Ya, I'll Pelt Ya" Pelfrey, and Oliver "All Over" Perez. Not exactly the three guys you would want to send against any team of aces...but lets not forget who we are as a team. The Mets bash...In a fantasy draft I would take Reyes over Sheets, Wright over Capuano & Beltran over Suppan. We are the team to beat. It would be nice for us to have a great series against their best pitchers but at the same time we must see the forest from the trees. Baseball is a marathon and I am not going to annoint the Brewers just yet. To see their record in my opinion is to see the NL Central for what it truly is...a pretty mediocre assortment of teams (the Brew Poo have only faced one team with a winning record, the Dodgers). The Brewers are good, their pitching is good, and our alignment for this weekend isn't that great...but our team is.

By the end of the weekend, we will know a whole lot more about this particular team from Milwuakee. We'll know whether they are good or great. We will also know a little bit more about the Mets. Can we face aces with the bottom half of the rotation? Can we wait for Petey? Should we? Is it Mike Pelfrey or is it time for Humber & Vargas? I'll be there to see Peltme on Saturday versus the gold medal wearing Sheets (which is much better than the hood wearing sheets).

So many questions and thankfully there are 162 games to answer them...Smell Ya Later.

Some Extra BP for Ya -

Guy Conti, the Mets' bullpen coach who is tight with Pedro Martinez, says the rehabbing right-hander is preparing to be exceptional again.
"I can't tell you how hard he has worked," Conti said Wednesday. "I'm not talking two and three hours a day, I'm talking four and five hours a day. He has totally committed himself to being the Pedro Martinez of old, and if God doesn't take anything away from him, he is going to max out."
Martinez is slated to throw off a mound next month.

Pretty exciting that we are going to get the man back...if you haven't seen Pedro pitch a game before, you are missing out on the most exciting player in baseball. He is an event in and of himself. Pumping his fist, high fiving teamates, throwing just filthy change ups...I cannot wait to see him again. I love just watching him in the dugout with that wiffle ball bat. The guy is just a fierce competitor, one of the greatest ever.

As Always

Should be an interesting series. I can't believe Pelfry is 0-4, but alas, he is.

Anyway, the best part about Pedro is that he seems to be a weirdo who gets the guys around him pumped up. That's awesome.

Go Mets! Mooks, did you see the Second Half burnt down? At least Hoovers was unscathed.

Yeah, its hard to hate the Brewers though. They are lovable losers usually, though very competitive this year. We'll see if they can hold the pace however.

Hold the pace? Nigga pleaze. The Brewers are a second rate team. Always have been. Always will. Milwaukee should stick to the only fucking thing they know how to do...make beer. They need to stop trying to be the best in baseball or even the best in the NL, becauase they just ain't!
