EVEN SO, THE METS ARE STILL 5 GAMES UP ON THE CUNTY PHILLIES AND THE SOULESS BRAVES...
I'm going to the game on Friday vs. the Dodgers and will try to give a full report afterwords.
It's time to gear up for the post-season, with a little over a month left in the regular season.
Castillo is really contributing, (despite my earlier doubts of him), the pitching staff is holding it together (just try to keep Billy away from the non-save situations), Conine? Not sure but sort of the same player as Easley (although Easley is better). To me, they are still the most exciting team to watch in the Major Leagues (Yanks, to their credit, are interesting to watch too - watch them lose because their pitching is awful! ha ha Except for Joba, who apparently, and I didn't' get this memo, probably because I haven't been to church in a while, is Jesus resurrected to these crazy Yankee fans).
Below is an email from the grave (aka Mooks) and some of his thoughts on the Metropolitans...
Easley is a tough loss but really he was an unknown going into the season and for that matter no better/worse than Valentin...2 second basemen out for the season, 2 catchers out, every outfielder down at some point, a mediocre pitching staff compared to the other elite teams...Despite all of this, the Mets are 17 games over .500 w/the best record in the NL...the media likes to point out how disappointing the Mets have been but really who have they disappointed??? The league is better (I fear Webb, Peavey,Penny, Lowe, Smoltz, etc and so does the AL) and yet they are still the best team in said league. Beltran is hitting again like it's May, Delgado was hitting and he's back tonight, D.Wright saved the best for last this year, and Jose is Jose so I am not disappointed in the least. They went from being an average team to being a great team so quickly that people forget that a winner isn't born overnight.
Remember the Yankees lost twice in the playoffs (Seatlle and that Ken Griffey slide & Cleveland and Albert Bell's blast against Mo) before they reeled off 4 in a row. It takes time to build a team...look at Unruly's man crush in Mangina. He isn't rushing to the Super Bowl. He's building a franchise that wins every year.

CHECK OUT OVERFLOATER BLOG FOR A NEW POST!
I am impressed with the Mets this month. They have stayed with the tough stretches and now everything is hitting. September and October - time for our best baseball.
Bring on the Red Sox in the Series and just like '86, we'll steal it from them again. Though I wouldn't mind another Subway Series.
C'mon Pedro!
