Mets Game Synopsis...

On Friday night I saw the Mets beat (again at Shea) Brad Penny, who is in the running for the Cy Young this year but can't get a win at Shea to save his life. (1-8 now). Although Penny beat the Mets twice this year, he couldn't get the job done when Mr. Met was in the stands.

After conferring with Mooks and my brothers and father, it was decided to drive into the game, despite the Friday night traffic. Well, we left at 4:30 and we made it to our parking spot by 5:40 pm. (In fact, the only traffic we faced was on the TriBoro coming home, we didn't even have any on the GWB!).

After having several beers in the parking lot (with some subs) we heading inside and made the first pitch. Our seats, Loge 2 Row K weren't that great. While they were behind home plate and you had a view of the field from corner to corner, you couldn't see the sky. That was annoying and we also couldn't see the fucking scoreboard replays. So, after the second inning, we moved down a few rows and we were good to go. (Interesting, the fucking morons who actually had those seats showed up in the 7th inning and we were back in our shitty seats for the rest of the game, it was couple of broads (unattractive) and we asked them where they were for 7 innings and they just laughed - they may have been retarded, not sure).

Anyway, it was great game, D. Wright is en fuego. Plus he made two amazing plays in the field, making up for his poor performance in the field a week or so ago. Lastings didn't strike out and Carlos Beltran played well. Ruben Gotay had a big hit, but fucking Carlos Delgado still shit the bed. He got a hit in Sat.'s game (thank God) but I think he is just about done. I like him and I really want him to do well, but he just isn't getting the job done. The fans of course booed him, but I don't think I'm ready to do that yet. He's a good team player and seems like a good guy.
Wags came in a non-save situation and of course let the three of the four guys he faced on base. But then he settled down and shut the Dodgers down.

In other news, I drank a lot of beers and had a great time. A little bonding time with my brothers and my dad is always good. My dad, who grew up in "Richmond Hills" which is part of Queens, has always been a Mets fan and he had some good stories to tell. I guess sometimes, when you get older, your parents are good to talk to because they have some interesting stories and life experience to impart. I think when you are younger you are too stupid to pay attention. Plus, now I am in a similar position as my dad once was, having a kid and a wife and a job and blah blah blah. Of course, he had 9 kids so he really knows what the fuck he is talking about when it comes to that shit.
